hello,
I have a hp pavilion laptop (recent model) i bouth in in the Netherlands (were I currently live).
This laptop is about 8 months old and i am having some wifi issues with the mediatek wifi chip.
I am thinking about replacing it with a intel chip that i have laying around doing practaly noting.
(I also have the expirence, I have repaired about 150 laptops and have only failled 1 time)
Now here is my question: do i still remain warranty if I dicide to replace the wifi chip.
(I understand that the warranty on the wifi chip becomes invalide)
But I would find it a shame if I would lose the complete warranty.

Generally speaking, if you open up a laptop, replace an internal component, do not do any damage, and close it again -- that process, in and of itself, does not void the warranty.
But if you then were to send the laptop to HP, they would open and and discover you changed the WiFi chip -- and they could decide to void the warranty on that basis.
We have no control over what HP does in regard to warranty claims -- but it is risk to make changes like this.
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor represent, HP
