Hi @Yoyo53,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error code 0xc000000e is a Windows Boot Manager error that indicates your PC couldn't load the operating system due to missing or corrupted system files or hardware issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this error.

Steps to Fix Error Code 0xc000000e

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure all internal components (RAM, SSD/HDD, cables) are properly connected and seated.
  • If possible, disconnect any external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.) except the keyboard and mouse.

Run Automatic Repair:

  • Boot from the Windows installation USB.
  • Select your language preferences, then click "Next".
  • Click "Repair your computer".
  • Go to "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Repair".
  • Follow the prompts and let Windows try to repair itself.

Rebuild Boot Configuration Data (BCD):

Boot from the Windows installation USB.

Open Command Prompt from the "Repair your computer" section.

Enter the following commands one at a time, pressing Enter after each:

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

bootrec /scanos

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Restart your PC and see if it boots normally.

Check Disk for Errors:

Boot from the Windows installation USB.

Open Command Prompt.

Run the following command:

chkdsk C: /f /r /x

Replace C: with the letter of your Windows drive if it’s different.

Let the scan complete and fix any issues it finds.

Restore System Files:

Boot from the Windows installation USB.

Open Command Prompt.

Run the following commands.

sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\Windows

Replace C: with the appropriate drive letter if different.

This command will scan and repair system files.

Update BIOS/UEFI:

  • Sometimes, a BIOS update can resolve boot issues. Visit the HP support website and check for any available BIOS updates for your specific PC model. Follow the instructions provided to update your BIOS.

Reset BIOS Settings:

  • Enter BIOS setup (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, F12, or Del during startup).
  • Find the option to reset BIOS settings to default (usually under "Exit" or "Load Setup Defaults").
  • Save and exit BIOS, then try to boot again.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • If you recently installed new hardware, remove it and try booting again.
  • Run hardware diagnostics from BIOS if available.

Reinstall Windows:

  • As a last resort, you may need to reinstall Windows. Boot from the Windows installation USB, select your language preferences, click "Next", and then "Install now". Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Backup Important Data

If you can access the Command Prompt from the USB installation media, consider backing up important files to an external drive before performing any operations that may result in data loss.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
