I recently got a chromebook 11 G5. Since it is an older model it no longer has automatic updates. Is there any way I can do it manually? Any help will be greatly appreciated as I no nothing about computers.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Great question -and you're not alone! The HP Chromebook 11 G5 is a reliable little machine, but since it's an older model, it no longer gets updates from Google. That can be frustrating, especially when things stop working right.
The Good News:
You can give your Chromebook a fresh start using a free, official system from Google called ChromeOS Flex — it looks and works almost the same as the original, but it still gets updates!
What You’ll Need:
A USB stick (at least 8 GB)
A second computer (like a Windows or Mac laptop) to prepare the USB
What to Do:
Go to this page from Google:
👉 Get Started with ChromeOS FlexFollow the easy steps to:
Download and install a tool called the Chromebook Recovery Utility
Use it to put ChromeOS Flex on your USB stick
Plug the USB into your HP Chromebook 11 G5 and turn it on
You can try it out without changing anything — or install it fully when you’re ready.
Why It’s a Great Option:
Still gets updates from Google
Looks and feels just like your old Chromebook
Safe and secure for daily use
If you’d like, I can walk you through each step — no tech skills needed! Just let me know. 😊
Kind Regards,
