Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-b109wm Sleekbook.
My son formatted the hard drive.
Will a recovery disk work and get my laptop working again?

You're very welcome.
The product keys on all PC's that came from the factory with W8 or newer have the product keys embedded in the BIOS.
So that is why you don't see a the familiar XP, Vista, W7 type product key sticker on your notebook.
The recovery disk will pick up the W8 product key in your notebook's BIOS.
After W8 has been installed, you will have to connect to the internet, do the required updates to W8, so you can get the free upgrade to W8.1 from the Windows Store.
One other thing...if you are using a recovery disk, you have to go into the BIOS, enable legacy mode, and disable secure boot so you can boot from a DVD.
