HP Pavilion 14 inch Laptop PC 14-ec0000 (2Z8E3AV)
Hi everyone, I recently had to format my pc because the windows 11 upgrade got corrupted and the system wouldn't boot anymore.
To use the PC I first installed Fedora and then
Ubuntu and without any problems.
Now when I tried to install windows 11 from scratch, the installer crashes because it doesn't have the nvme controller drivers and this is strange since it comes out of the factory with this operating system natively.
I also tried with windows 10 and same problem.
In the past I had already done a format from scratch and installed windows 10 and there had never been any problems.
I call hp since I'm under warranty, they send me two different drivers but still nothing sees them but says they are not compatible.
I format everything with gparted I reset the bios and uefi keys to default and try again .... again nothing done.
Ok now I'm back to ubuntu which installs without problems ... what could have happened? how could i solve?
Will it be a hd problem even if linux systems install without problems?

Thank you

Hi:

If your notebook came with Windows from HP, it may be supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W11, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive and another PC running W7 or newer to create the recovery media with.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support

Since you have to use another PC to create the recovery media with, you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window to create the recovery media with.

There should be a different product number identifying your exact model PC because the 2Z8E3AV product number has many different model notebooks under that number.  None look like they are sold in italy based on the last two letters of the model number.

HP PartSurfer

You may be able to find the number on the box (if you still have it), or in the BIOS.

Models sold in Italy will have a suffix that ends in #ABZ...for example using the product number you posted 2Z8E3AV#ABZ.

Models sold in Italy will usually be labeled like this...14-Ec0xxxnl

Models that come with AMD processors should not need a specific storage controller driver to reinstall Windows.

I have been unable to find any such driver, and suggest you check an AMD forum.

I have searched many times in the past and can't find any solutions related to this problem, and you are not the only one that has had this problem.

On the other hand, many folks including me have installed W10/W11 on AMD notebooks with the Ryzen processors with no problem.

Thank you very much for the proposed solution. It works great, in a month hp italia support failed to give me this simple solution.
Too bad that there is no similar tool that works on linux and that it is not possible to directly download the iso and keep it.

A thousand thanks

Andrea
