so upgraded from 10 to 11 all was fine anyhow Bios said to be up dated what is bios thanks ?

BIOS is a form of software known as firmware that is "burned" into a chip on the motherboard.  It is what actually boots the laptop and allows it to start up far enough to load Windows.

 

If you are not being offered a BIOS update by HP, then leave it alone.  Forcing this on your own is the major cause of trashing laptops and rendering them useless.
