pavilion 17-ab000nm (E7H13EA)
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi ! I'm stuck , please help ! Thank you !

I just bought HP 17-ab000nm , no windows OS , so I installed Windows 7 pro (32-bit) SP1 from new retail DVD . No probs there . However , some drivers are missing and those devices are not working , and 2 or 3 devices are not even recognised by device manager . I can not find these drivers anywhere ! Yet HP states that Pavilion 17 is supported Skylike-based system that can run Windows 7 !?

( www8.hp.com/us/en/ad/windows-10/win7supporteddevices.html ) !?

Anyway ... Missing drivers for USB , wifi ,ethernet , bluetooth... Where do I get them ? Windows driver update can't do anything , no joy with HP or Intel sites ! Please advise...

Also :

         a) Do I need to get latest chipset ( Intel HM170 ) drivers before anything else ? If so , where ? There isn't any on Intel

              site...

         b) If and when I get missing drivers , is there any specific order in which I should install them ?

         c) Shall I run windows update ( windows only ) and get Windows 7 up to scratch and then install these drivers ?

If there is anyone that can help , please and THANK YOU , THANK YOU , THANK YOU...

Hi:

You should be able to use the W7 32 bit drivers from the HP Probook 450 G3 notebook on your model, except the audio, BIOS and firmware files.

You will also need the nvidia graphics driver and the only suggestion I can offer for that would be to try the one directly from Nvidia.

There is a recommended order to install some drivers...

1. Install the Intel chipset installation utility and restart the PC.

2. Install the Intel HD graphics driver and restart the PC.

3. Install the nvidia HD graphics driver and restart the PC.

4. Install the audio driver and restart the PC.  Accept the agreement.  Download and install the 1st driver on the list.

5. Install the ethernet driver.

Then you can install the rest of the drivers in any order you want.  Restart the PC if the file instructs you to do so afterward.

It is interesting that unit did not have Windows already as it shows Windows 10 as the installed OS.  It also shows it as being an overseas sold unit - not USA.  While there might be someone that installed Windows 7 on that model, it would seem more probable to install Windows 10 and get the drivers from the support page.  If you can find the chipset drivers and the Intel management drivers, then perhaps device manager can assist.  Looking at the SUPPORT PAGE for the Windows 10 drivers should give you something to go on when looking for Windows 7 drivers.  Use the version numbers for the driver listed and then check with manufacturer's site see if they will work for Windows 7, too.

Whoops, sorry @Paul_Tikkanen

Big thank you , Paul !

Finally something to work with ... I'll download all the recommended drivers and get on with it . Never had any probs with BIOS , firmware files or audio ... so that's good news ! Done some more research as well , so I should be OK .

Hi Paul !

Quick update :

It worked like a charm !!! Used device manager for display driver though , but everything else went well , following your instructions ... savvy !!! Finished it off by using Driver Booster 4 . All devices shown in device manager and working ... Tested as well , all working ( USB , card reader , bluetooth ... etc ) !!!

Once again , thank you so much and Happy New Year !!!
