Hi @shamokwok,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Encountering a media driver error during Windows installation on an HP Pavilion 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop PC can be frustrating, especially if it's related to the Samsung NVMe drive. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue.

  • Check USB Drive: First, ensure that the USB drive you're using to install Windows is working properly. Try using a different USB drive or reformatting the existing one.
  • Download Drivers: Visit the HP support website and download the necessary drivers for your specific laptop model. Look for drivers related to the Samsung NVMe drive or any chipset drivers that might be required during installation.
  • BIOS Settings: Enter the BIOS settings of your laptop and check if there are any settings related to the NVMe drive or USB configuration that need to be adjusted. Sometimes changing the USB mode from "Auto" to "Legacy" or vice versa can resolve installation issues.
  • Update BIOS: Ensure that your laptop's BIOS is up to date. Sometimes, outdated BIOS versions can cause compatibility issues with newer hardware components.
  • USB Port: Try using a different USB port on your laptop. Sometimes, certain USB ports might have issues during installation.
  • Create Bootable USB Again: If you haven't already, recreate the bootable USB drive using a reliable tool like Rufus or the Windows Media Creation Tool. Make sure the USB drive is formatted correctly and that the Windows installation files are properly copied.
  • Check Compatibility: Verify that the version of Windows you're trying to install is compatible with your laptop's hardware. Sometimes, using an older version of Windows might resolve compatibility issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the media driver error and successfully install Windows on your HP Pavilion gaming laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
