Hi @Graciemogranivi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy x360 connects to Wi-Fi at first but loses the connection during setup after a reset. Let’s go through a few simple steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the internet equipment
Turn off your Wi-Fi router and modem for 60 seconds.
Turn them back on and wait until the internet is fully stable before continuing setup.

Move closer to the router
Place the laptop within a few feet of the Wi-Fi router.
Weak signal during setup can cause the connection to drop.

Use a basic Wi-Fi network name
If your Wi-Fi name has special characters or spaces, this can cause setup issues.
If possible, temporarily rename it to something simple (letters and numbers only).

Choose the correct Wi-Fi band
If your router shows both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, connect to the 2.4 GHz one during setup.
This band is more stable for initial configuration.

Skip sign-in during setup (if shown)
If Windows gives an option like “Set up later” or “I don’t have internet,” choose it.
Once you reach the desktop, you can reconnect to Wi-Fi normally.

Check date and time
Make sure the date and time are correct when prompted.
Incorrect time can cause secure internet connections to fail during setup.

Update network driver after reaching desktop
Once setup completes, open Windows Update and check for updates.
This installs the correct Wi-Fi driver for Windows 11.

Disable VPN or hotspot connections
Do not use a VPN or mobile hotspot during setup.
These often disconnect mid-process and interrupt setup.

Try a different network if available
If possible, connect briefly to another Wi-Fi (friend’s phone hotspot or alternate router).
This helps confirm whether the issue is with the laptop or the home network.

I hope this helps.
