You are welcome. You do not see an "accept as solution" button because you did not create the thread.
To give me a solution, you would need to create a separate thread. Then, I can respond to the thread and post my steps as the next post. Then you can mark my answer with a Solution.
That's only if you want to go through the extra effort of creating a thread 🙂

There is no need to uninstall or reinstall or repair anything,
Follow the directions below
Open Chrome
From chrome go to Extensions
chrome://extensions/
check developer mode at top right
from windows explorer go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HP SimplePass
From this folder drag
tschrome.crx
into chrome://extensions/ window
It will tell you that it is going to install simplepass into chrome and and will start working
Took me and my cousin an hour to figure this out, so enjoy and spread the word..

[SOLUTION] Tested on Win7/8/8.1: Chrome v35+
1) download Chrome group policy templates here: http://dl.google.com/dl/edgedl/chrome/policy/policy_templates.zip
2) Copy [zip]\windows\chrome.admx to c:\windows\policydefinitions
3) Copy [zip]\windows\[yourlanguage]\chrome.adml to c:\windows\policydefinitions\[yourlanguage]\chrome.adml (not c:\windows\[yourlanguage])
4) In Chrome, go to Settings -> Extensions
5) Check the Developer Mode checkbox at the top
6) Scroll down the list of disabled extensions and note the ID's of the extensions "Website Logon", for example, is ID: nmgnihglilniboicepgjclfiageofdfj
7) Click Start -> Run, and type gpedit.msc
😎 Expand User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Google -> Google Chrome -> Extensions
9) Double-click to open "Configure extension installation whitelist"
10) Select "Enabled", then click "Show..."
11) In the list, enter the id of "Website Logon"
12) Click OK and restart Chrome.
Enjoy

Chelique - your solution doesn't work - a current version of Chrome will immediately disable the extension after it is added and there is no way to enable it unless you use the Group Policy extention whitelist in the custom GP template (see post above this one for the method to enable it).

Othman32 - thank you very much! All other solutions offered to date have been bogus. Your's is the real deal solution and the only one that makes any sense. Adding the Group Policy template worked like a charm. Whitelisting the extension in group policy is the only way the extention can be enabled in a current verison of Chrome.
PS - you don't need to use Chrome in Developer mode to do this. It is safer to NOT use developer mode if you don't have to.

I want to echo 'Honor student's complaint. This is absolutely bs. Who is google chrome to come in and wreck what isn't theirs. This system works much better than anything out there, and I am not willing to rely on other technology to store ALL of my usernames and passwords. In fact, after they disabled the extension, more than half of my existing accounts have been corrupted, mis-matching and cross contaminating username and password fields with other companies and website addresses. What the hell is going on with technology???
