I bought a HP Chromebook at a yardsale? My 1st mistake: Now when I turn it on & get the screen for password I can not enter one since I did not get a password from the prior owner. I do have a google acct. which I use for my desktop & a mobil smarphone. do I use that password. This is driving me crazy I'm 70 yrs old & disabled so be patient ok. thanks for any help you can provide

I wish we could help you, but sorry, due to changes in Community policy, we are no longer able to provide any assistance with password reset or recovery issues.
In addition, according to the Community's Rules of Participation (which you can read from here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/custom/page/page-id/hp.rulespage😞
4d. No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to bypass or subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to bypass any safety measures.
For assistance NOW, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly as they will confirm ownership of the PC before providing any assistance -- something we are not able to do from here.

Thanks, I'm new to community this was my 1st question & I really screwed that up. Didn't know any of this about passwords etc. Of course I don;t see how the link you gave me will help, since it will come up with the name of owner being the guy I bought it off of. I don't even know this person, like I said it was a yardsale I saw the Chromebook, thought hey great price etc. never even thought of asking any questions . You live & you learn, by your mistakes.
