Hi @mahnoor2

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are encountering an 601 error on startup with your HP PC, it's indicating a low battery capacity. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Step 1: Understand the Error Message

  • 601 Error: Indicates that the storage capacity of the primary (internal) battery is less than 25% of its original capacity, potentially due to environmental factors or battery aging.

Step 2: Update the BIOS

To ensure that the system can adequately detect and manage battery performance, updating the BIOS can be beneficial.

  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
  • Navigate to your product’s page and locate any available BIOS updates.
  • Download the update and follow on-screen instructions to install it.

It's crucial to ensure that you download the correct BIOS update. Avoid interrupting the update process, as this could harm your system.

Step 3: Conduct a Battery Test
Perform a battery test before Windows starts using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.

Charge the Battery Fully: Make sure your battery is fully charged.

  • Enter Diagnostics Menu: Disconnect the AC adapter, turn off the notebook, then hold the power button while pressing the 'esc' key. Once the menu appears, press 'f2'.
  • Run Battery Test: Select Component Tests -> Power -> Battery, then click "Run once."

The results will inform you of the battery's condition:

  • Passed: The battery is functioning correctly.
  • Calibrate: The battery works correctly but requires calibration.
  • Replace: The battery needs replacement; contact HP support if under warranty.

Step 4: Environmental Considerations

If temperature is a factor, operating in a warmer environment could alleviate the battery’s performance issues.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
