HP EliteBook 8440p Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)

Hi,

I upgraded my 8440p to Windows 11 Pro, and only issue I've seen so far is the Ricoh SmartCard Reader in sp46972 is an Incompatible driver when turning on Device security > Core isolation > Memory integrity. Driver version is 1.12 (20 July 2009), and I cannot find a newer version. Does anyone know where a newer version of this driver can be downloaded? Thank you.

Hardware ID: PCMCIA\RICOH-Bay8Controller-F1B2

EDIT: Drivers available in the Microsoft Updates Catalog are 1.07.00.01 for Windows XP

Hi:

The 8440p was the last HP notebook to use the Ricoh SD card reader, so no newer drivers would be available from HP.

Thanks for the reply, Paul. The SD card reader works fine, it's just the Smartcard reader affected. I just have it Disabled, and I've never used it in the past anyways. I remember the Air Force was starting to use them to authenticate to computers in the early 2000's before I retired. I've never used one, but I remember helping my flight's Captain get his setup on his system when he got it. He had a USB reader attached to his system.

You're very welcome.

I had the older 6930p notebook with the same smart card reader and I just kept it enabled.

Since the notebook doesn't support secure boot, I decided to leave the Memory integrity security option turned off.

I rarely use the notebook anymore.

I can't update the notebook to W11 24H2 because the processor is not SSE4.2 compliant.

I've heard about CAC cards, but I had retired from the USCG before they were commonplace.
