Im looking for any way I can extend the life span of my Spectre 360-15t-0000 laptop battery! It seems to eat up batteries at a rather frequent rate perhaps due to its poor cooling capabilities, not sure. I looked into the bios control as mentioned on one HP site but the Bios on this model is about worthless with almost nothing to set or adjust to do with battery charging at all, and very little else for that matter, very pathetic for a $1500.00 laptop! is there an after market program to do this? I really have no faith that HP will ever upgrade anything on their older products bios or drivers....ever!!!

Hi @nlfash
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To manage and control the battery charge limit to 80% on your HP Spectre x360-15t-0000 laptop and to extend the lifespan of your battery, there are several potential solutions, both from HP’s tools and third-party options. Here are some steps and methods to help you achieve this goal:
HP Battery Health Manager (HP Support Assistant)
HP laptops often come with a built-in utility called HP Battery Health Manager that can help preserve battery health by limiting the charge to around 80%. It’s available through the HP Support Assistant software, which manages various system settings, including battery settings.
Here’s how to access and enable it:
- Go to HP Support Assistant and download the latest version of the software.
- Open HP Support Assistant.Navigate to the Battery section.
- Look for an option labeled Battery Health Manager or Battery Protection.
- Select the "Maximize Battery Health" option (which is typically set to limit charging to around 80%) to extend your battery's lifespan.
- After enabling this setting, your laptop should automatically charge to about 80% and prevent it from charging to full capacity, which helps prolong battery life.
2. BIOS Settings (If Available)
You mentioned the BIOS doesn't have many settings for battery charging, but it's worth checking if the option is there. Some HP laptops have a battery settings option in the BIOS for charging management.
Here’s how to check for it:
Access BIOS:
- Turn off your laptop.Turn it on and immediately press the ESC key, then press F10 to enter the BIOS menu.
Check for Battery Settings:
- Look for a section related to Advanced or Battery (it may vary depending on your BIOS version).
- If available, check for an option to limit the charging to 80%. It could be listed as Battery Care or Battery Health Manager.
- If you find the option, enable it, save the changes, and exit the BIOS.
Note: If you can’t find this option in the BIOS, it may not be available on your specific model.
If HP’s built-in tools and BIOS don’t offer the functionality you need, you can consider third-party software to help manage your battery charge. One popular option is Battery Limiter.
- Battery Limiter: This is a small, free third-party tool that lets you limit the charge of your laptop battery to a specified percentage, such as 80%. You can set it to prevent the battery from charging past a certain threshold, which helps reduce wear and tear over time.
Steps to use Battery Limiter:
- Go to Battery Limiter and download it.
- Open Battery Limiter and set the desired charge limit (80% in your case).
- The tool will alert you when the battery reaches the set limit, and it will stop charging beyond that.
I hope this helps.

Unfortunatly none of the solutions you mention seem to be available on my $1400.00 HP Spectre 360-15t-000 lap top! I have tried several after marketbApps as well and none of those seem to work on it either! I just cant beleive HP is so far behind on this and their service and upgrades on products in this price range! Seems simple enough to control the charger and limkt maximum charge to some predetermined level like 80% or 85% of full charge to preserve the battery!
