Hi @Andrzej6,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand that the Alt + S shortcut on your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop is triggering the HP scanning window instead of the built-in Word functionality you need. This can be frustrating! Here are a few steps to disable the HP shortcut and regain control of Alt + S in Word:
Look for HP Hotkey Support Utility: HP laptops often come with utilities that manage hotkeys and keyboard shortcuts. Search for "HP Hotkey Support" or similar terms in your laptop's programs or settings.
Access Hotkey Settings: Once you find the HP Hotkey Support utility, open it. There should be options to manage and customize the keyboard shortcuts.
Find the "Alt + S" Shortcut: Within the HP Hotkey Support utility, look for the specific shortcut assigned to "Alt + S" that triggers the scanning window.
Disable or Reassign the Shortcut: You should be able to either disable the shortcut entirely or reassign it to another combination that doesn't interfere with your Office Word usage.
Save Changes: After making the necessary adjustments, save the changes and exit the HP Hotkey Support utility.
If you can't find the HP Hotkey Support utility or a similar tool, you might need to check your laptop's user manual or visit HP's support website for guidance specific to your laptop model.
Alternatively, if you're unable to modify the HP shortcut settings, you could try changing the shortcut key combination within Microsoft Word itself. Here's how:
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Go to "File" > "Options."
- In the Word Options dialog box, select "Customize Ribbon" from the left sidebar.
- Click on the "Keyboard Shortcuts: Customize" button at the bottom.
- In the Customize Keyboard dialog box, you can search for the specific action you want to reassign (e.g., "Save").
- Once you've located the action, you can assign a new shortcut key combination by selecting the "Press new shortcut key" field, pressing the new keys you want to assign, and then clicking "Assign."
- Click "Close" to save your changes and exit the dialog boxes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Dziękuję za te informacje i próby pomocy.
Niestety to nie pomaga.
Nie mam w systemie aplikacji HP Hotkey Support.
Do pomocy technicznej HP nie daje sie napisać bo przekierowuje mnie do społecznoci czyli tu.

Hello, I have the same problem on my laptop HP Spectre x360 Convertible 14-ea0xxx. When I use Polish keyboard, the shortut alt+s shoud be "ś", but instead it opens the window of HP System Event Utility. I also don't have HP Hotkey Support on my laptop.
