Hi @Svaikoze,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Accessing the advanced settings in an AMI BIOS (American Megatrends BIOS) can sometimes be a bit tricky if you're not familiar with the specific key combinations or options. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you enter the Advanced settings:
1. Enter BIOS Setup
Power On or Restart: If your computer is already on, restart it. If it’s off, turn it on.
Access BIOS: Immediately press the BIOS access key. Common keys for AMI BIOS are:
- Delete (Del)
- F2
- F10
2. Locate Advanced Settings
Once you’ve accessed the BIOS, you need to navigate to the advanced settings. The method for doing this can vary depending on the BIOS version, but generally, the following steps apply:
Look for an Option Tab:
- Navigate through the available tabs or menu options. The Advanced settings are usually located under a tab labeled "Advanced", "Advanced Mode", "Main", "Configuration", or something similar.
Switch to Advanced Mode:
- Some BIOS versions have a basic and advanced mode. If your BIOS interface is in a simple mode, look for an option like "Advanced Mode" or "F7" (pressing this key in some BIOS versions switches between Easy and Advanced modes).
Explore Menus:
- Once in Advanced Mode, you should see a menu with various settings for CPU, RAM, and other hardware components. The layout and naming might differ, so look for sections like "CPU Configuration", "Chipset", "Onboard Devices", or "Boot".
3. Use BIOS Key Combinations
If you are unable to find the Advanced settings through the menus, try these key combinations:
Use the Function Keys:
- Sometimes pressing F7, F8, or F9 can switch between different BIOS views or options.
Check BIOS Help:
- Look for a Help section within the BIOS menu or use the F1 key to bring up the help screen, which might guide you to advanced options.
4. Consult Documentation
If you still have difficulty accessing the advanced settings, consult your motherboard or computer’s user manual. Manufacturers often provide specific instructions for accessing and navigating BIOS settings in their documentation.
5. Reset BIOS to Default
If you've made changes and cannot access certain options, you might consider resetting the BIOS to its default settings:
Find the Reset Option:
- In the BIOS menu, look for an option to Load Defaults or Load Optimized Defaults.
Save and Exit:
- After resetting, save changes and exit. This might allow you to access advanced settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
