Hi, each time I enter the serial number then model number of my laptop. I am then told that it is not supported anymore. Is there a way to compare the installed BIOS to a later version of the BIOS even if the computer is out of warranty here?

Hi:

The only way to update the BIOS in your PC is through Windows because all of the files are exe files and were only written to be run using Windows.

The BIOS update file for your model notebook was written to be run using Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Thank you for your guidance with this problem I was having. You pointed me to the correct link. I don't know if the laptop is worth installing windows 7 and then the BIOS update onto but it very well may be. I will be installing openSUSE TUmbleweed on the machine. So I would be able to do this before hand.

Previously on a desktop with guidance, I was able to use https://flashrom.org/

it was a very involved task for me though.

Thanks
