Hi

Recently been getting the following error message when logging into pc after start up 'AccelerometerSt.exe - error (0xc000007b)'.

Having browsed the forum I realized this has something to do with the HP 3d Driveguard Software and suggested solutions include uninstalling software, restarting pc and then reinstalling the software.

My particular version of the software is listed as:

HP 3D DriveGuard Software (HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection)
6.0.28.1 Rev.A
32.1 MB
Jul 29, 2015

sp71811.exe (32.1 MB)

When trying to uninstall the software I get the following message during the end of the uninstall process.

hp 3d.jpg

I then return to Program & Features and see that HP 3D Driveguard is still listed so click on uninstall again.  I'm informed that this program has already been uninstalled and it is then removed from the list.

I then restart the pc and install sp71811.exe via HP Download and Install Assistant.  After installation is complete I restart the pc but once again, after login, the same error message is displayed 'AccelerometerSt.exe - error (0xc000007b)'.

If I try to run AccelerometerSt.exe manually I get the following message:hp 3db.jpg

I've also repeated the process of unistalling, restarting and installing but opted for a manual installation without using the HP Download and Install Assistant.  Unfortunately the outcome is no different!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the prompt reply but I've managed to source another solution that seems to be working at the moment.

The solution related to the missing mfc120u.dll file which I came across by chance on another website.

The Solution advised the following:

How to fix "The program can't start because mfc120u.dll is missing from your computer."?

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013

Install:

vcredist_x64.exe

vcredist_x86.exe

The AccelerometerSt.exe can now be run manually and also runs on start-up :generic:

Hopefully this will prove to be a permanent solution. (Fingers Crossed)

Cheers Anyway!

Hi:

See if this works...

Go to the device manager and click to expand the system devices category.

Find the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor in the list of devices.

Right click on that device and select Uninstall.  Also check the Uninstall driver box.

Restart the PC and install the newest driver for the 3D driveguard.

Receives notifications from the integrated accelerometer and automatically parks the hard drive to reduce the risk of damage if the PC is accidentally dropped.
