  • It seems that I cannot add another account on the laptop even though I already click the "Add Account" under Other User on my HP Laptop. My Windows already been updated, so I don't know what to do as this will be the first time I experience and doing it.
  • Thank you for your answers

Hi @Jescie

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details and for already updating Windows—that’s a great first step. I understand how frustrating it can feel when something as simple as adding another account doesn’t work as expected.

Let’s walk through some steps to help you get this resolved smoothly.

Steps to Add Another Account in Windows:

Check Network Connection

  • Ensure your laptop is connected to the internet. Adding a Microsoft account requires an active connection.

Use Settings to Add Account

  • Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
  • Under Other users, click Add account.
  • If you want to add a Microsoft account, enter the email address and follow the prompts.
  • If you prefer a local account, select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information, then Add a user without a Microsoft account.

Verify User Account Control

  • Make sure you’re signed in with an account that has Administrator privileges. Standard accounts cannot add new users.

Run Account Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Look for Accounts or User Profile Service and run the troubleshooter.

Check for Corrupted System Files

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run: sfc /scannow
This will scan and repair any system file issues that might block account creation.

Restart After Changes

  • After completing the steps, restart your laptop and try adding the account again.

Please try these steps and let me know how it goes. If the issue persists, we can explore additional troubleshooting options together.
