I need some advice. I've started using my laptop as a stationary device since my battery sucks. It's fixed upright on a stand in a closed position, connected to an external monitor. I don't have the power source connected at all times to save on power. While the laptop works just fine this way, turning it on is always a hassle. Sometimes when I lift it and and open it slightly to try and press the power button, it just won't turn on until after at least a dozen tries, which is very infuriating. I've fiddled around with some hibernation settings to see if mouse movements could be used as a way to wake it without it being constantly turned on, yet nothing seems to work. Is there perhaps and easier way to set this up? I've seen that with other laptops you can configure the BIOS in a way where connecting the power cable automatically turns on the laptop. Is there something similar for HP laptops?

For your machine, you have to open the lid because its power switch is on the keyboard. Some machines we can power from a dock when the lid is close. One example HP 840 G5/G6 with HP USB-C G5 (5TW10AA) dock.

Regards.
