Yesterday when I was redy to shut down my laptop the system said it was going to update the BIOS and after that I could not log in with my password I had set up when I purchased the machine. The model is 14-bw012rx, notebook, 1Ku9ouA#ABA, [edit] Thanks, Doug45661. I also had a pin setup but it asks me for Windows 10 password.

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post that you are having issues with the computer after the recent Bios update. Don't worry I'll be glad to help you.
Perform a Hard reset on the notebook:
Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:
-
If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.
If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.
-
With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
-
With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
-
Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to do a Bios recovery - HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)
Once done, restart the computer.
Please look at the document on "How to Recover Your Forgotten Password (Windows 10)".
Could you please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting as this will help me in further assisting you.
Eagerly waiting for your response!
that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

Mr. Singh, I really appreciate your response. After trying several options I determined the effort is not worth the work. This was a $150 notebook so I decided to scrap it and buy a new, more powerfull device.
Again, Thanks for your interest,

IUpdated BIOS on HP Envy Laptop as HP Assitant recommended. Now wife cannot get into the laptop. Doesn't recognize PIN, face id or password. I have tried a lot of the suggestions across the web. I need help. HP has basically rendered my laptop useless and it is critical for my wife's work.
