Yes so I updated my firmware like 2 months ago and this problem arise back then. So sometimes when I plug in my laptop to charge it charges for some time and then shows 100% fully charged and then when I remove the charger . It drains very fast like instantly in seconds from 100 to 0 and after restarting or by uninstalling ACPI-control method battery driver it gets fixed.

Hi @__kumarvarun,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be a driver issue causing this behavior. When you uninstall the ACPI-Control Method Battery driver, it resets the battery management system, which can sometimes resolve such issues temporarily. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially fix this.

  • Update Drivers: Make sure all drivers, especially the ACPI-Control Method Battery driver and chipset drivers, are up to date. Sometimes, updates fix bugs that could be causing abnormal battery behavior.
  • Reset Power Management: Try resetting your laptop's power management settings to default. This can sometimes resolve issues related to battery reporting.
  • Calibrate Your Battery: Occasionally, recalibrating your battery can help the system accurately gauge its charge level. To do this, fully charge your laptop, then let it run down until it automatically shuts off. Charge it back up to full without interruption.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Firmware updates for your laptop's BIOS can also sometimes address battery management issues. Check HP's support site for any available updates.
  • Run Hardware Diagnostics: Use HP's built-in hardware diagnostic tools to check if there are any hardware issues causing the battery reporting problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
