It seems there are no instructions on how to set up Win10 for anything.  Oh well.......Question #3 for me:  I have converted my Outlook Express XP address book to .wab and brought it over to new Win10 machine.  My target email program is Mail, but I can't find any  way to get People or Mail to read .wab.  Pls help.

Hi:

Just import the .csv or .wab file into your WLM address book.

Hi:

Use the method described below for exporting your Outlook Express Addess Book to a .csv file, and import your address book .csv file into the Mail app in W10.

I've got the .csv file on same computer as People, but I can't follow the second reference.  It says select the .csv and then what?

Otherwise you may want to download and install Windows Live Mail 2012 if you have a IMAP or POP3 e-mail account.

WLM 2012 works very much like Outlook Express does.

From: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/18614/windows-essentials

Note:  Windows Essentials 2012 suite reached end of support on January 10, 2017.

It is no longer available for download.

Yes, that specific date has "come-and-gone".

Please "read-between-the-lines" about the "no longer available" part.

While it is true that one cannot download this software via the above page, if you Google-search for "Windows Live Mail 2012" or "Windows Essentials 2012", you will find some other web-sites that have made a copy of the software.

Download the copy, and you can still install this software.

Be sure to "preserve" that copy, should you ever need to reinstall the software.

@mdklassen

Not quite sure why you replied here.

I am quite aware that Microsoft no longer offers Windows Essentials 2012 for download, which is why I had posted the link to the 3rd party website for getting WLM 2012.

And I'll go one better...I have zipped up and attached the Windows Essentials 2012 installer, so that there is no need to even hunt for a place to download it.

I knew about the "sunset" for that software, and now I know that you know about the "sunset" for that software, and now anybody who reads our messages will know, and will not be "discouraged" if they view that web-page from Microsoft's web-site, and then find out that the software is no longer available "directly" from Microsoft.

When downloading "anything" from "other" web-sites, always be careful that some "malware" has not been (silently) bundled into the download.

I've always been leary of using third party download sites so I was happy to use your zip.  I have Live Mail up and running, but I don't see any place to download existing address book or messages.  Am I that blind?

Windows Live Mail is loaded with cool features and among them is the ability to import contacts from other contact lists. Here we'll show you how to import contacts using Windows Live Mail right from your account @ butterscotch.com: http://bit.ly/c5CTGJ

succeeded in getting contacts into Live Mail but can't find way to get to the ultimate goal of Mail (Win10).
