My laptop doesn't have a number keypad. I want to use ASCII codes for accents in foreign languages using the Alt + a number. For example, Alt + 130 = the French acute e accent. Any idea how I can achieve this using keystrokes?

All machines have numeric keys. I normally use a software to type special characters, for example  é, â, ô, á ...But the software can't type degree therefore I use Google  for example 30 Celsius degree should be  30°C.

 

For French, please try

  Or many others around.

Of course I have keys with numbers, but I don't have a number keypad.  The ASCII codes don't work with the regular numbers. The work with the number keypad, which doesn't exist. And I really don't want to download alternate software.
