Errors.jpgErrors.jpgGood day HP Community Support,

I am reaching out to request assistance in verifying the cause of repeated update errors I am experiencing through Windows Update. Several driver updates are failing to install, showing error code 0x80070002. Specifically, the Microsoft Corporation AudioProcessingObject Driver Update and the Intel Corporation Display Driver Update are not completing successfully.

As a result of these issues, I currently have no audio output and I am unable to adjust my screen brightness. I would appreciate your guidance in identifying the root of these problems and any recommended steps to resolve them.

Thank you for your support.

Regards,
RobDan18

Hi @RobDan18

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

We understand the concern. Based on the screenshot and the symptoms described, multiple driver packages are failing through Windows Update with error 0x80070002, including audio, display, chipset, and software component drivers. Since audio output and brightness control are both affected, the issue may be related to incomplete or corrupted driver components rather than a single driver update.

Please try the following:

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics and confirm all tests pass, especially for the system board and audio components:

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

Open Device Manager and check whether any devices under:

  • Sound, video and game controllers
  • Display adapters
  • System devices show a yellow warning symbol.

Install the latest drivers directly from the HP support page for the HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 series instead of Windows Update: Link

Install drivers in the following order:

  • Intel Chipset Driver
  • Intel Graphics Driver
  • Intel Management Engine Driver (if available)
  • Realtek/Intel Audio Driver
  • HP Software Components

Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter: Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Windows Update > Run

If the issue started recently after updates, perform a System Restore to a date before the driver failures occurred and then reinstall the HP drivers from the HP support site.

If the updates continue to fail after completing these steps, please share a screenshot of Device Manager (Sound, Display Adapters, and System Devices sections expanded) so we can review the driver status more closely.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
