Hello everyone,

I’m currently working with a notebook device that presents a unique challenge, particularly in terms of wireless connectivity and networking. The machine was acquired with an unknown or custom operating system pre-installed, and I’m encountering several issues that are preventing standard network setup or OS replacement. Here are the key problems I'm facing:

The wireless adapter is not being recognized, making internet access impossible via Wi-Fi.

The operating system appears to be a lightweight or custom Linux build, but it's not identifiable through common commands or system tools.

Bootable USB drives are inconsistently detected, complicating attempts to install a known OS like Windows or Ubuntu.

What I’m seeking guidance on:

Methods to accurately identify an unknown OS using available CLI tools or system directories.

Approaches for offline driver installation, specifically for wireless networking hardware.

As someone who enjoys solving complex systems-based problems similar to piecing together the perfect synergy in a Balatro game deck it’s clear that this situation requires a strategic, step-by-step approach. Any advice, tools, or experience you can share would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support!
