In most cases, a solid color vertical line or set of lines is an indication of hardware failure in the display screen -- as I have seen this on desktop screens as well as laptops.
If your PC is still under the original one-year warranty, then you should be able to get it replaced by HP but you would have to send it to them and be without it for several weeks in the process.
If your PC is NOT under the original warranty, this can be very expensive -- easily matching or exceeding the cost to replace an older laptop.
Sorry, but this is just a self-help forum staffed mostly by volunteers and we are neither able, nor permitted, to provide any repair estimates or equipment prices.
For this information, you would need to contact an HP Repair or Service Center.
If you live in the U.S., here is a link to the HP Service Repair Centers:

If you live outside the U.S., here is a link to HP Service Centers, by Country/Region: https://support.hp.com/in-en/service-center
Good Luck

It is not a very serious problem usually occurs when there is a glitch in your system's hardware or you display drivers. The solution to this is that just open device manager using: Windows key + X or right-click on Start to open the Power User Menu. Select Device Manager in the menu and then find the option for Display Adapter and then scan for hardware changes and then check for updates.
I'm not an HP employee and nor does work for HP
