I'm stuck on a loop with the bios update. When I turn the computer on, the bios recovery progresses to 100%, the computer restarts and a message says "The system BIOS Pending Image is being cleared....." At that point, the computer restarts the whole process all over again. Can anyone help?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  1. Turn off the computer and be sure that the AC adapter is connected to power.

  2. Press and hold the Windows + B keys, and then simultaneously press the power button.

Keyboard highlighting the key presses for BIOS recovery

  3. After 2 to 3 seconds, continue to press and hold the Windows + B keys, but release the power button. You might hear a series of beeps.

    • If the HP BIOS Update screen is not displayed, repeat the previous steps but press the Windows + V keys. If the screen is still not displayed, your computer might not support the feature or there is a hard drive issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I had tried that solution before posting the first time. It doesn’t solve the problem. As I said, the Bios update screen appears but when the computer reboots after updating, it starts the whole process all over again.

Any other solution I could try?

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
The last thing I can suggest try and restore the OS back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.  The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for the suggestion but I can’t restore the OS if the bios doesn’t work…

As we have tried all the troubleshooting steps from our end, think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction with our HP Support team.
