HP Support assistant tries to update my BIOS to Softpaq SP152524 but fails every time with message saying 'Unable to open Bios signature file'
I have tried downloading and installing manually with same issue.
Can anyone help?

Hi @SPYUK,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Encountering issues with BIOS updates can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.
- Verify Downloaded File: Make sure that the BIOS update file you downloaded is not corrupted. Re-download it from the official HP support website and ensure that the download completes successfully.
- Check File Integrity: After downloading the BIOS update file, verify its integrity using checksums provided by HP. This ensures that the file has been downloaded correctly and hasn't been tampered with.
- Update HP Support Assistant: Ensure that your HP Support Assistant software is up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues with BIOS updates.
- Disable Antivirus/Firewall: Sometimes, antivirus or firewall software can interfere with the BIOS update process. Try temporarily disabling them before attempting the update again.
- Run as Administrator: If you're manually installing the BIOS update, make sure to run the installation file as an administrator. Right-click on the file and select "Run as administrator".
- BIOS Recovery: If all else fails, you may need to perform a BIOS recovery. This usually involves using a USB flash drive to reinstall the BIOS. Instructions for BIOS recovery should be available on the HP support website or in the user manual for your laptop model.
Remember to proceed with caution when updating the BIOS, as a failed update can potentially render your laptop unusable.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
