Dear HP Support Team,

When I attempted to update the BIOS to version F.30 through the HP Support Assistant, the installation was unsuccessful. After reconfirming in the system properties, I found that the BIOS version is still F.29.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue?

Hi @MUbaidullah,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It looks like the BIOS update process didn’t complete successfully. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check for any errors or issues during the update:

  • Go to Device Manager > Firmware and check for any issues or error codes related to the BIOS update.
  • If there’s any specific error message, it might provide more details on what went wrong.

Make sure you're using the correct BIOS version:

  • Visit the HP Support website and ensure that you're downloading the correct BIOS version for your specific model (Pavilion 15.6 inch Laptop). Make sure F.30 is compatible with your system.

Disable Secure Boot:

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 to enter the BIOS settings.
  • Navigate to the System Configuration tab and select Boot Options.
  • Disable Secure Boot, then save and exit the BIOS.
  • Try running the update again after restarting your laptop.

Use HP's BIOS Recovery:

  • HP laptops often come with a BIOS recovery option, which can help revert back to a working BIOS if the update fails.
  • Turn off the laptop and then press and hold the Windows + B keys while turning it on.
  • This should start the BIOS recovery process. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the BIOS.

Update via USB (Manual method):

  • Download the BIOS update file from the HP Support website.
  • Create a bootable USB drive with the update using a tool like HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool.
  • Restart the laptop and press F9 to boot from the USB drive.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to manually update the BIOS.

Check the power supply:

  • Make sure your laptop is plugged into a stable power source during the update process, as a power loss could cause issues during the BIOS update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
