@John_George, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding BIOS Signature File Error!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Power Cycle Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes, a power cycle can reset the components and resolve the issue. Turn off your laptop, disconnect all peripherals, remove the power adapter, and remove the battery if possible. Wait for about a minute, then reinsert the battery and power adapter and restart your laptop.

Access HP System Diagnostics:

  • Restart your computer and press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
  • Press F2 to open System Diagnostics and run a comprehensive test to check the integrity of the hardware components.

Update BIOS (if accessible):

  • If the laptop can boot, visit the HP support site to check for any BIOS updates and follow the instructions to update the BIOS. Ensure the update file is correctly downloaded without corruption.

BIOS Recovery (for Notebooks):

  • You can attempt to recover the BIOS if it's corrupted by pressing and holding the Windows + B keys while the device is powered off. Hold these keys and then press the power button for about 3 seconds before releasing the power button but keep holding the Windows and B keys.
  • This should trigger the BIOS recovery process.

Reinstall BIOS via USB (Advanced):

  • If possible, download the correct BIOS update from HP's official website onto a USB stick.
  • With the computer off, insert the USB drive, and power on the computer holding the appropriate keys that might be F10, F12, F9 depending on the model to boot from the USB and reinstall the BIOS.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
