Hello,
I have bought hp elite x2 1012 g1on eBay. It was new, but bios was locked by password.
Now I would like to update it (the current version is 01.22, when 01.39 is available for installation), but I can't do that without password input...
Therefore I have contacted to HP Support, provided my SN and UUID, and they sent me SMC.BIN with instruction:
Please follow these steps to clear BIOS password:
Save the attached file with this e-mail to the root of the USB key as SMC.BIN and insert to the system (or save the file to the root of drive 😧 HP_TOOLS)
- Press (Windows Key + Arrow UP Key + Arrow Down Key) all keys at same time and turn on the system
- Release all keys and press F10 at HP logo to go to F10 setup to (Reset BIOS security to factory default)
I tried all the combinations, but even after F10 it requests the BIOS Admin password.
Then I found a bit different steps presentation on the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO7nNy2lN_A
But that combination (Press and hold the following three keys at the same time (the Windows key (near alt) , the Up-Arrow key, and the Down-Arrow key), Click one and release the power button) doing nothing: it is just the normal Windows loading afterwards...
I tried varios flash drives, even 1 and 2 GB, all in the FAT32, SMC.BIN in the root of drive.
But I did not see that "SMC Command" screen, even with any error...
What I am doing wrong? May be for my tablet has to be some other keys combination?
Hope to get any help from you!
