Myl laptop is HP 15S-EQ2012NU (43R59EA). I can't update the BIOS version. I download version 32 but after restarting the computer it says - Unable to open BIOS image file.
How do I solve this annoying problem?

Hi @ValSim,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering difficulties updating the BIOS on your HP laptop and receiving the error "Unable to open BIOS image file," there are several steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Ensure Correct BIOS Version:
- Make sure you have downloaded the correct BIOS update for your HP 15.6 Inch Laptop PC 15-E2000 from the official HP support website.
Verify File Integrity:
- Confirm that the BIOS file you downloaded is not corrupted. You can re-download the file and check its integrity using the checksums provided on the HP website.
Update from HP Support Assistant:
- Try updating the BIOS using the HP Support Assistant application if you have it installed. This tool can automatically identify and install the latest BIOS for your laptop.
Run as Administrator:
- Right-click on the BIOS update executable file and select "Run as administrator." This ensures that the update process has the necessary permissions to modify system files.
Disable Antivirus/Firewall:
- Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall before attempting the BIOS update. Sometimes, security software may interfere with the update process.
Use a Different USB Port:
- If you are updating the BIOS from a USB drive, try using a different USB port. Some ports may not provide sufficient power or may have connectivity issues.
Rename the BIOS File:
- Sometimes, renaming the BIOS file to a simpler name can resolve issues. Ensure that the file name follows HP's naming conventions.
Check for HP BIOS Update Utility:
- Some HP laptops have a dedicated BIOS update utility that can be accessed during the boot process. Check your laptop's documentation or the HP website for information on how to use this utility.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
