Hi HP Support,

I have a Victus 15-fa0155TX and I just did a clean install of Windows 11 Pro. Everything is working fine except for my keyboard backlight.

The weird thing is that all my other Fn keys work perfectly—I can change the volume and screen brightness with no issues—but pressing Fn + F4 for the backlight does absolutely nothing.

I checked the OMEN Gaming Hub app, but I don't even see a "Lighting" tab in there anymore. I tried looking for the drivers on your website, but I couldn't find the right ones for my specific model.

Thanks!

Hi @MyName21

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Here are the steps you should follow to restore the keyboard backlight functionality on your Victus 15‑fa0155TX after reinstalling Windows 11 Pro:

1. Verify BIOS Settings

  • Restart the notebook and press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Navigate to System Configuration and check if the Action Keys Mode is enabled.
  • Ensure that the keyboard backlight option is available and turned on. Save changes and exit.

2. Install HP System Drivers

  • Open the HP App on your system.
  • Run Diagnose & Fix to automatically detect and install missing drivers.
  • Specifically check for HP Hotkey Support and System Event Utility, as these control the function keys and backlight features.

3. Update Graphics and Chipset Drivers

  • In Device Manager, expand Display Adapters and update the graphics driver.
  • Expand System Devices and update the chipset drivers. These updates ensure proper communication between hardware and Windows.

4. Reinstall OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Uninstall the current OMEN Gaming Hub from Apps & Features.
  • Reinstall the latest version from the Microsoft Store.
  • After installation, check if the Lighting tab appears. If not, restart the notebook and check again.

5. Perform Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all pending updates.
  • Restart the notebook after updates are complete.

6. Test the Backlight

  • Press Fn + F4 to toggle the backlight.
  • If the backlight still does not respond, try holding Fn and tapping F4 multiple times to cycle through brightness levels.

These steps ensure that the required drivers, utilities, and settings are correctly configured for the keyboard backlight to function.
