HP EliteBook 840 G4 Base Model Notebook PC

Hello HP Support,

I need help diagnosing an issue with my HP EliteBook 840 G4 battery. The problem started with the system shutting down around 20%, then gradually increased to 30–42%, and now shuts down suddenly around 68%. When I plug in the AC adapter afterward, the battery percentage resumes from 68%, indicating it didn’t truly drain — just shut off.

Device & Battery Info:

  • Model: HP EliteBook 840 G4

  • Battery Age: ~5 months

  • Battery Health: 87%

  • Design Capacity: 47 Wh

  • Full Charge Capacity: 41 Wh

  • Cycle Count: 105

  • Battery Temperature: 35°C

  • Terminal Voltage: 12063 mV

  • OS: Windows 10/11

  • BIOS: Up to date

    • Battery status: Still shows "Calibrate"

      What I’ve Tried

    • Manual battery calibration:

      • Fully charged to 100%

      • Discharged to shutdown

      • Recharged again (several cycles)

    • Updated BIOS and HP drivers

    • Used HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (F2 menu)

    • Battery continues to behave abnormally — shuts off prematurely even when not at low percentages
