Hello HP Support,
I need help diagnosing an issue with my HP EliteBook 840 G4 battery. The problem started with the system shutting down around 20%, then gradually increased to 30–42%, and now shuts down suddenly around 68%. When I plug in the AC adapter afterward, the battery percentage resumes from 68%, indicating it didn’t truly drain — just shut off.
Device & Battery Info:
Model: HP EliteBook 840 G4
Battery Age: ~5 months
Battery Health: 87%
Design Capacity: 47 Wh
Full Charge Capacity: 41 Wh
Cycle Count: 105
Battery Temperature: 35°C
Terminal Voltage: 12063 mV
OS: Windows 10/11
BIOS: Up to date
Battery status: Still shows "Calibrate"
What I’ve Tried
Manual battery calibration:
Fully charged to 100%
Discharged to shutdown
Recharged again (several cycles)
Updated BIOS and HP drivers
Used HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (F2 menu)
Battery continues to behave abnormally — shuts off prematurely even when not at low percentages
