HP Pavilion Plus 16 inch Laptop PC 16-ab0000 (7Y6K1AV)

Followed HP advice on how to calibrate the battery, works for a bit and then the message comes up again.  The battery test shows that everything is fine. I have never had this issue before with previous HP laptops.  What has changed.  This is very annoying as this process takes hours.  I have only had this lap top since May 24 so it is still under warranty.

Hi @Gigibuo,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing battery calibration issues on your HP Pavilion Plus 16-inch Laptop, especially when everything seems fine after testing, but the message persists.

May I know

1. Since when are you facing this issue

2. Have you made any changes on your PC post that this issue raised

Here are some factors that may explain why you're seeing this issue now:

1. Battery Calibration Software Changes:

HP laptops have updated firmware and software that might introduce more aggressive battery health management, which could trigger frequent calibration reminders. This is designed to ensure optimal battery life, but it can sometimes overreact by suggesting calibration more often than needed.

2. Power Management Updates:

Changes in Windows power management settings or a recent update to the BIOS or drivers could cause these alerts to appear more often. If there was a recent system update, that may be prompting more frequent checks and notifications.

3. Battery Chemistry:

Newer battery technologies in modern laptops are designed for higher efficiency but may also be more sensitive to calibration and monitoring. The algorithms used to measure battery health might detect small discrepancies and suggest calibration more often than your previous laptops.

4. HP Battery Health Monitoring Tools:

HP laptops have become more advanced in battery diagnostics. The system could be detecting subtle inconsistencies that older laptops wouldn’t notice, prompting the need for calibration more often.

Run the Latest HP Diagnostics: Ensure that you are using the latest version of HP Support Assistant and running the most recent battery diagnostic tools.

BIOS Update: Check for any pending BIOS updates, as they can sometimes resolve power management issues or overly sensitive battery monitoring.

Turn Off Calibration Notifications: If you’ve calibrated the battery recently and the test shows it is in good health, you could consider turning off the calibration reminder. You can try disabling power notifications in HP Support Assistant or Windows settings if they are overly aggressive.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
