Windows 7 Home Premium
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows 1.5.0.0
Battery check keeps canceling
94% available (plugged in, not charging)
Can the message above be the sign of a defective battery which inhibits the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to execute the Battery check?

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I understand that the Battery is not charging and you are unable to complete the Battery Check
I'll try my best to help
I suggest you update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Also reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery
Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter
Step 09. Look for "Plugged In Charging" message on the Battery icon
You can also try running the Battery Test from the F2 Diagnostic
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery
If the issue persists, please contact our Phone Support for Service Options

Thank you for your help. I was able to run the Battery Test from the F2 Diagnostic. The Battery PASSED.
I have updated my BIOS (It turned out it was already up to date, but I did not know that until I have run the update again).
I did all the steps from Step 01. to Step 09. but instead of the "Plugged in Charging" message I got "94% available (plugged in, not charging)". I will try to contact hp Phone Support as you have suggested. Thank you.

Am using a g1 840 PC..but since I update my windows OS 10 my system keeps shutting down at 65% battery. Have uninstalled the updates but the problem still persists. Have update the BIOS, run the battery test uninstalled the AC adapter and do a hard reset yet the problem still persists.
For the battery test...the result shows canceled..
Pls your help is urgently needed!!!
