Pavillion 14 EC0036AU
Microsoft Windows 11

I just purchased a new HP Pavillion  14 EC0036AU that comes pre-installed with Windows 11 last week. Been on Mac OS for the past 8 years so please bear with me. I usually use my laptop in spurts with long gaps (8-15 hours) in between. I noticed two main issues with my laptop. My laptop was draining too much battery while in sleep mode, 14-15% to be precise in four hours until it automatically entered Hibernation mode after which the battery drain subsided or reduced. I searched online for possible causes and diagnosis and performed a sleepstudy  through the command prompt which indicated that my laptop was operating moderately even while on sleep due to some 'Audio Service' of 'Activator Type' for the entirety of the while it was in sleep till it reached hibernation. This Audio Service was the top offender. From my limited knowledge being of the 'Activator' type means it's a system software, can i modify it? My audio drivers are all up-to-date. Here are some photos :

As you can see the first 4 hour sleep cycle just consumed 2% batteryAs you can see the first 4 hour sleep cycle just consumed 2% batteryThe subsequent 2 sleep cycles consumed 14 and 15% respectivelyThe subsequent 2 sleep cycles consumed 14 and 15% respectivelyNo major offenders for the first sleep cycleNo major offenders for the first sleep cycleNo major activator or other type causing significant drainNo major activator or other type causing significant drainDRIPS of the draining cycleDRIPS of the draining cycleList and type of offendersList and type of offenders

As you can see from the above photos, there were 3 major sleep cycles for the sleep study i performed. All ran for 4 hours till auto hibernation. In the first one only 2% battery was consumed while for the remaining two 14% and 15% were consumed. I do not know why this is happening. I have both alexa and cortana disabled as well. I would also like to ask if there is a way to reduce the time when my laptop enters hibernation from sleep when on battery.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Refer to the article: Sleep and Hibernate issues in Windows 10  By the end of the article you will be able to fix the issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
