Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is a QVC Special for a 17" laptop (17-CA1001cy) that has several of the same question that is going unanswered. This laptop has a battery that is not accessible to the user and the question is how is it possible to replace it when it fails.

Hello @fightergator,

 

Sorry, I couldn't find the questions online you were referring to. 

 

I looked through this model's Maintenance and Service Guide and it seems like the battery can be replaced by a user. It's on page 40 of the guide here

 

You just need to remove the optical drive and then the bottom cover. To remove the battery you'll need to remove 4 Phillips M2.0 × 3.0 screws.
