I didn't use the laptop right away and when finally opened battery was shot. Ordered a new battery and installed. Battery says needs calibration in HP Support Assistant. But when using F2 to run battery check, it shows battery is operational and does not allow calibration. Attempted to manually calibrate more than once. Send help.

@pcole45321, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Manual Calibration:
Charge your laptop to 100% and keep it plugged in for 2 more hours.
Unplug and use the laptop until it shuts down because the battery is empty.
Leave it off for 5 hours.
Charge it back to 100% without interruption.
Check if the battery status in HP Support Assistant improves.
Restart Battery Drivers:
Open Device Manager.
Find Batteries, right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and uninstall it.
Restart your laptop — Windows will reinstall the driver.
Update BIOS:
Go to HP’s website.
Download and install the latest BIOS for your model.
If HP Support Assistant still says "needs calibration" but battery works fine, you can ignore it.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
