Hello, I replaced the battery of my HP computer with an equivalent one because it was very old. The capacity of the new battery is a little lower. When I leave it plugged in, it charges up to 87%. I think the reason for this is the capacity ratio. However, after it is charged to 87%, it stops charging and when it drops to 86, it charges again. This causes a drop in fps.
What can I do to prevent this battery from stopping charging and for 87% to be seen as 100%?
I am using Windows 10 - 64 bit.

Hi @keremtncr,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with your HP ENVY Notebook's battery stopping charging at 87% and then resuming at 86% is likely due to the battery calibration or power management settings. Here are some steps to address this issue.
Battery Calibration
- Fully Charge and Discharge:
- Plug in your laptop and let it charge to 100%.
- Once fully charged, unplug the laptop and use it until the battery is completely drained and the laptop shuts down.
- Plug it back in and charge it to 100% again without interruption.
Adjust Battery Settings
Power Options Settings:
- Right-click on the battery icon in the taskbar and select "Power Options."
- Click on "Change plan settings" next to your selected power plan.
- Click on "Change advanced power settings."
- Expand the "Battery" section and review the settings. Make sure that the "Low battery level" and "Critical battery level" settings are not set too high.
Battery Report:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter. This will generate a battery report that you can review for more information on the battery health and performance.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Update BIOS:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest BIOS update for your model.
- Follow the instructions provided to update the BIOS.
Update Battery Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager").
- Expand the "Batteries" section.
- Right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Update driver."
- Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
Check Battery Health
- HP Support Assistant:
- Open HP Support Assistant (you might need to download it from the HP website if it's not installed).
- Go to the "Battery" section to run a diagnostic test and check the battery health status.

Consider Power Management Settings
- Battery Conservation Mode:
- Some laptops have a battery conservation mode that limits charging to extend battery life. Check if this mode is enabled and consider disabling it if it's causing charging issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

yes, that's right, you learned about that battery protection system. But I can't find that option on your device. Do you know where I can open it? Also, I can't download the management system because I check the bios update from the system, it says it's up to date, but there is no battery section in the battery bios options.

My problem was not solved by the parts you mentioned. But I could not do only the bios part. Because the bios update link on the hp support page does not download to my device. When I check the bios update on its own page, it says it is up to date. But despite this, when I enter the bios settings, there is no section related to the battery.
