Dear HP,

I just got my Pavilion Aero 13.3" ( Ryzen 5 8640U) and realized there is no option to limit how much to charge the battery. I have read a few posts here and learned that Battery charge limit function is only available to some series. But I believe this feature should be a basic for every laptop.

Hi @rokuc,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

You're right that the battery charge limit function is a valuable feature to help extend the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries by preventing them from being constantly charged to 100%. However, as you've noticed, not all HP laptops come with this feature. It is often available on select models, typically those geared towards business or premium lines like the HP Elite, ProBook, and some Omen gaming laptops.

The Battery Charge Limit feature is available through the HP Battery Health Manager, which is usually accessible via the HP Support Assistant or BIOS settings. Unfortunately, it’s not always included on consumer models like the Pavilion Aero series.

While it would indeed be a great feature for all laptops, the decision to include it depends on the laptop's intended use and target audience. For example, business laptops are often designed with power management features to prolong battery health over time, while consumer laptops may focus more on performance and other features.

In your case, since the Pavilion Aero 13 doesn't include this setting, there are a couple of alternatives you could try:

  1. BIOS Settings: It's worth checking the BIOS settings to see if there's an option for battery management, even if it's not explicitly labeled as "battery charge limit."
  2. Windows Power Settings: You can also optimize power usage through the Windows battery settings (under "Battery Saver" mode), though it doesn't directly limit the charge, it helps manage power consumption.

If you're committed to this feature, it may be worth considering a future laptop purchase from a series that includes Battery Health Management, like the HP Elite Dragonfly or certain Omen models

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
