OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop 16-n0000 (63B17AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I have recently purchased an omen 16 laptop and would like to know how can i limit the battery charge at 80% while still plugged in. I have read through some blogs where is HP is providing this feature with HP battery management within bios only for select business models only.

I have updated my bios to the latest version as well but missing this feature, really would appreciate if HP could work on an battery  APP like Asus has or a feature update for my laptop.

Looking forward in hearing the best solution.

Hi @shankdon,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The OMEN by HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop has a battery charge limiting option in the BIOS settings that allows you to extend the lifespan of your laptop's battery by limiting the maximum charge capacity.

To access this option, you need to enter the BIOS by restarting your laptop and pressing the F10 key repeatedly until the BIOS menu appears. Once in the BIOS menu, navigate to the "Advanced" tab and select "Battery Safety" from the options.

In the "Battery Safety" menu, you will see an option called "Primary Battery Charge Limit." You can adjust the maximum charge level of your battery by using the arrow keys to select a percentage between 50% and 100%. Once you have made your selection, press the F10 key to save your changes and exit the BIOS.

By setting a lower maximum charge level, you can prolong the lifespan of your laptop's battery by reducing the amount of stress placed on it during charging cycles. This can help prevent the battery from degrading and losing its capacity over time, which can ultimately save you money in the long run.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi@ALDEN,

Thank you for your reply and support but unfortunately when I checked on the bios its doesnt have any advanced options/tab.

This is what i have done:

restarted the laptop and pressed the F10 key repeatedly until the BIOS menu appears. The BIOS menu (OMEN setup utility) appears with just 4 tabs: MAIN, SECURITY, CONFIGURATION, BOOT OPTIONS.

These tabs does'nt have any sub-tabs.

Out of these 4 tabs;  CONFIGURATION tab has an option for ADAPTIVE BATTERY OPTIMISER which is set to ENABLED. Other than that no other tabs have anything on battery. My bios version F.16

Is the options that you have suggested is on another bios version ?, Please do advice.

thanks
