Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My battery is not charging.

When I hover over the icon the message is "0% available (plugged in not charging)".

This happened some time ago after a Windows 10 update so I think it may be a software proble, but it may just be coincidental.

I would like to rule out a possible software problem before buying a new battery, (which may not solve the problem).

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Since you said it started a while after Windows 10 update, try to roll back the updates to a previous time before the update. Go to Windows settings - Update and security-  Recovery - If the update is a major build update you can go back to back to a previous version of Windows 20 if the update is not more than 10 days old.

To uninstall a typical update go to Windows settings - Update and security - Windows updates - Update history - Uninstall Updates - choose the updates from the time the problem started and Uninstall.

If the problem is coming from a system update, that should clear it hopefully. You can also run an Anti-Malware/ Anti-virus program just to be sure it is not a malware/virus problem.
