Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I just recently recieved a new Spectre x360 and also my first time ever owning a laptop! I want to prolong the battery life as long as possible. I am wondering when is the best time to charge the laptop (at what percentage)? And how much should I discharge it before actually charging it?

I am going to be using this a lot in school and travelling purpose so letting it plugged in and keeping it at 100% is not an option for me.

I know this topic is kind of controversial as there are many opinions floating around but I want to hear the opinions from an HP laptop expert.

Thank you!

I usually put my notebook battery charging when it reaches 15-20%

But life of the battery depends on many many factors, one of which being battery cycle life.

If I may ask also, until what percentage would you stop it from charging? 80-90% or full-on 100%?

HP Recommended

At 100%.

In plugged in state, after full 100% charge, battery automatically go into discharge state till 94%. If notebook is plugged in still, it'll start charging again from there.

Please read that HP document.
