Good day HP Community,
This is my current issue.
I have 6 HP 15-gw0000XXs💻 they have all lost the ability to use the \ key.
We have discovered that the Bios has lost value in a number of different fields, including the keyboard type,
We are trying to use the BCU to edit the keyboard type to the correct value.
The command we are using is:
BiosConfigUtility64.exe /setvalue:"keyboard type","02" /cspwdfile:"pwd.bin"
This fails returning error code 6, meaning "Access Denied - WMI result code – Setting modification failed due to BIOS permissions." We get the same issue even if we remove the Bios password. We are running the Cmd as admin.
The following values are also blank: Feature Byte, Build ID, Product Number, Serial Number, Product Name, System Board CT Number, System Family, Preinstall OS Version.
And I am pretty sure this values have been defaulted:
MS Digital Marker
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Mac Address
0123456789AB
Keyboard Type
00
We haven't enabled or setup BEAM, so we haven't done anything with /addauthstr.
We have 3 good laptops and have tried copy pasting the config.txt but its met with the same error.
I know this might be an unpopular opinion but this was probable caused by a WINDOWS UPDATE, not that i would speak ill of our OS overlords.
Please share your knowledge or questions.
Yours sincerely,
David
