Hi @Coony8

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your computer is locked with BitLocker and the letter keys on your keyboard won’t work to enter the recovery key, you can still unlock it by retrieving the recovery key and entering it correctly.

The HP support guide you shared explains how to locate the BitLocker recovery key and use it to unlock your PC.

Steps to Resolve BitLocker Lock and Keyboard Input Issue

Locate Your BitLocker Recovery Key

  • The recovery key is a 48‑digit numerical password.
  • It may be stored in one of these places:

Understand the Input Requirement

  • BitLocker recovery screens only accept numbers, not letters.
  • If you see letters in your recovery key (A–F), they are part of the hexadecimal format.
  • On the recovery screen, you must use the function keys (F1–F6) to represent letters:
    • F1 = A
    • F2 = B
    • F3 = C
    • F4 = D
    • F5 = E
    • F6 = F

Enter the Recovery Key

  • Type the numbers directly using the number keys.
  • For any letters (A–F), press the corresponding function key.
  • Example: If your recovery key segment is “23AF”, you would type 2, 3, then press F1 (A), and F6 (F).

Unlock the Drive

  • Once the full 48‑digit key is entered, press Enter.
  • Your computer should unlock and boot normally.

After Unlocking

  • Log in to Windows and check your BitLocker settings.
  • You can suspend BitLocker temporarily if you don’t want to re‑enter the recovery key on every startup.
  • Go to Control Panel > System and Security > BitLocker Drive Encryption to manage settings.

You can follow the official HP guide here for detailed instructions:
HP PCs – Using BitLocker and finding the recovery key (Windows 11, 10)

You’ve already shown persistence by trying to enter the code — the key detail is that BitLocker recovery screens don’t accept letter keys directly. Using the function keys for A–F will let you complete the entry and unlock your computer.
