OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop 16-k0000 (594K2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

These days, I have a lot of blue screens on my laptop. While using a laptop, it stops clicking, and the screen turns into a black screen and pops up the purple box at the top left. Just before, when I logged in to my laptop, the password was changed.

Is it the virus? Should I have to do a factory reset on my laptop?

Thank you.

Hi @Sihyun,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issues you're experiencing, such as frequent blue screens, unresponsive clicking, a black screen with a purple box, and a changed password, could be indicative of various problems, and it's not necessarily a virus-related issue. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot.

Scan for Malware and Viruses: Run a thorough antivirus and anti-malware scan on your laptop to rule out the possibility of malicious software causing these issues. Make sure your antivirus definitions are up to date.

Check for Hardware Issues: Blue screens and other anomalies can sometimes be caused by hardware problems. Run a hardware diagnostic test to check the health of your laptop's components. HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics tools that you can access during the boot process.

Update Drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers can lead to system instability. Ensure that all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. You can check for driver updates on the HP support website.

Windows Update: Make sure your operating system is up to date by installing the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, issues like these are addressed in system updates.

System File Checker (SFC) and Disk Check: Run the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system files. Additionally, perform a disk check to ensure there are no disk errors.

Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type the following commands:

sfc /scannow chkdsk /f

Restore to a Previous State: If you suspect that a recent change or update is causing the issues, you can try restoring your system to a previous restore point.

Factory Reset: If all else fails and the issues persist, you might consider a factory reset. However, be aware that this will erase all data on your laptop, so it's crucial to back up your important files before proceeding.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
