Hi,
I’m facing a persistent Bluetooth issue on my HP Victus 15-fb1013dx (MediaTek MT7921).
The Bluetooth adapter repeatedly disappears from Windows and Device Manager. When the issue occurs:

  • Bluetooth toggle disappears from Settings

  • Device Manager shows no Bluetooth category at all

  • “Show hidden devices” also does not reveal any Bluetooth entry

  • Sometimes I see “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)” under USB controllers

What I have already tried:

  1. Complete power reset (charger removed → long press power for 20 seconds)

  2. Updated MediaTek Bluetooth & Wi-Fi drivers to the latest version (July 2025)

  3. Installed HP-provided MT7921 driver package

  4. Updated Windows to the latest build

  5. Performed BIOS defaults reset

  6. Checked Power Management settings (disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device")

  7. Clean reinstall of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi drivers

  8. Checked for overheating — issue happens even at idle

  9. Reinstalled chipset drivers

Temporary workaround:
A hard shutdown (holding power button until forced off) sometimes triggers an EC/CMOS message on next boot, and then Bluetooth reappears — but only temporarily. After some time or after sleep/hibernate, it disappears again.

This looks like a firmware or hardware-level issue with the MediaTek MT7921 combo chip.

I need guidance on:

  • Whether this model has a known MT7921 Bluetooth failure issue

  • Whether a specific BIOS/EC firmware update addresses this

  • If replacing the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module is recommended

  • Any official diagnostic steps to confirm if the module is faulty

Thanks in advance for any help.

It does not indicate the driver version. With just the date, there is little that can be done. Try this driver.
