HP ProBook 4520s Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I installed a new processor: i7 core 640m instead of celeron.

I noticed that a lot has changed in this section and bluetooth is gone:

What should I do? I used the driver installer - it didn't help.

Thx

@ArtsemP, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP ProBook 4520s Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR).

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

When upgrading the processor in the HP ProBook 4520s Notebook PC, such as switching from an Intel Celeron to an Intel Core i7 640M, several changes might occur due to the differences in processor capabilities and system behavior. However, the alteration should not typically affect the Bluetooth functionality since Bluetooth is managed by separate hardware (a Bluetooth module) and driver support.

If you find that Bluetooth is no longer available after the processor change, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Check the Bluetooth Module: Ensure that the physical Bluetooth module is still installed and properly connected inside the laptop.

  2. BIOS Settings: Access the BIOS setup to make sure that the Bluetooth functionality is enabled. Sometimes, system updates or changes can alter BIOS settings.

  3. Drivers Update: Visit the HP support website for your specific notebook model and download the latest Bluetooth drivers. Installing or updating drivers can often resolve missing functionality.

  4. Device Manager Check: Go to the Device Manager in Windows and look for Bluetooth devices. If the Bluetooth icon or a related device shows an error or is missing, reinstall the drivers as mentioned above.

  5. Hardware Compatibility: Ensure that the new processor is properly seated and compatible with your laptop model, as hardware incompatibility might lead to unexpected issues.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
